Mr. Gary Abraham
Gary
Abraham was appointed to the Union Township Board of Education in November of
2003, filling a vacated seat due to a resignation. Gary currently serves on
three board committees; Technology, Superintendent's evaluation, and alternate
Liaison for the Board of Education to the Township Committee. Gary's concerns
include school safety and security, continued upgrade of programs offered in the
schools, and district residency.
Gary has a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Connecticut, an Associate in Applied Science in Physical Therapy from Springfield Technical Community College, and a Master's of Public Administration from Farleigh Dickinson University. Gary's Master thesis was a problem solving report on No Fault Insurance Reform in New Jersey.
Gary has worked in Union since 1982 for the Union Physical Therapy Center in the Ideal Professional Park. He currently serves as the Director of Physical Therapy. Gary is an adjunct Professor of Biology at Union County College (Plainfield Campus), where he teaches Anatomy and Physiology.
Gary is a member of the Knight's of Columbus Union Council 4504 where he is very active in many of their charitable causes. He also is a parishioner at St. Michael's Church, where he currently is a lector. Gary was a member of the Battle Hill School PTA. Currently he is a member of the Central Five-Jefferson School PTA. Gary additionally was an elementary school basketball coach and an umpire when he lived in Connecticut.
Gary has been a resident of Union since 1992. He resides with his wife of twenty years, Cathy. They have a daughter, Carissa, who started in the Union Schools at the Pre-K level and is presently attending Central Five-Jefferson School.
