Mr. Anthony Manochio

    Mr. Manochio previously served as a Board of Education member from 1989 through 1991.  During that period of time he served as Vice-President.  He rejoined the Board when he was appointed to a Board vacancy in October 1999 and was elected to three (3) consecutive three (3) year terms since April 1999.

    Mr. Manochio served as Board President in school year 2000/2001 and 2001/2002. He served as Board Liaison with Battle Hill, Connecticut Farms, and Washington School.  His major concern has and continues to be the comprehensive programs provided to all students of the Union Schools.  The district was previously selected as one of the outstanding school systems in the nation due to the varied academic and extra-curricular programs provided.   Today, there still is continued need to provide the many additional programs for our youngsters because of the required core curriculum standards mandated by the State.

    Mr. Manochio is a retired educator having completed thirty-seven (37) years of service with the Newark School System.  During that period of time he served as a teacher, coordinator, Vice-Principal, Supervisor and Special Assistant to the Superintendent of Schools.  His educational credits include: graduating from Barringer High School located in Newark, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bloomfield College, a Masters degree from Seton Hall University in school administration and doctoral work in education at Seton Hall University.

    Mr. Manochio has been a resident of Union for twenty-five (25) years.  Married to Aurora Dente for forty-five (45) years, they are the proud parents of Anthony M., Michele and Michael.  Mr. Manochio has five grandchildren, two who attend school in Union. Mr. Manochio serves as an usher at St. Michael’s Church and Church counter for the Sunday collection. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus council #4504 having served as Membership Director for the council and Membership Director of the Columbian Swim Club for seven years.
