Walking Club

Description
Of Club:
Walking club was started on October 5, 1993. Its purpose
was to promote a healthful living activity that will remain with
each participant throughout his/her lifetime. The benefits of
walking range from an increased energy level to developing a better
self image. Walkers walk at their own pace and are instructed in the
heel-toe method of walking. Each member is encouraged to
participate in a walk-a-thon throughout the school year.
Pedometers are also used to help members count their steps; our goal
is to walk 10,000 steps per day. Participating members
receive extra credit for physical education.
Meeting Schedule:
Walking Club meets every Tuesday from 2:45 pm
until 3:30 pm. Meetings are held in the Nurse's office
Activities:
Popcorn sale in Fall, Winter and Spring; Daffodil Sale to
help support American Cancer Society.
Other:
Monetary donations throughout the year (e.g.. American
Cancer Society,
Memorial Sloan Kettering Research Center, American Heart
Association, American Diabetes Association, etc.)
