About Livingston Elementary School...

Livingston School provides a nurturing environment where early grade school children, preschool through grade four, can develop academically, socially, and physically. The staff, parents/guardians, and the administration all contribute to this nurturing effort. We currently enroll 454 students.

The classroom teachers bring to their teaching tasks a wide range of training and experiences. Our newer members bring new concepts and teaching techniques to bear on the learning process, while our experienced staff utilizes their experience to assure student progress. The combination results in a superior educational experience for all of the children.

The classroom teachers are aided by a nurse who monitors the children's health needs and provides instruction related to maintaining good health, family life education, and drug/alcohol abuse prevention. Other specialized teachers provide instruction in library skills, computers, art, instrumental and vocal music, gifted and talented, A.A.P., E.S.L., and special needs. Additionally, our physical education teachers offer a program, which includes physical conditioning, coordination, game skills, and sportsmanship.

A preschool program, which includes a Head Start component, is also available. This program is subject to the policies of the Board of Education and all Head Start regulations.

The support staff of secretaries, custodians, clerical aides, teacher assistants, and cafeteria/playground aides willingly apply their skills and personal touches to the benefit of the children and the teaching staff.

No snapshot of the Livingston School family would be complete without a "picture" of our PTA. The organization contributes to the children's safety, entertainment, recognition, and many other significant education amenities. The officers, executive board, and room representatives supported by parents/guardians and teachers add immeasurably to the high quality of the children's school day.

The local YMCA, with the approval of the Board of Education, offers before and after care in the building on a fee for services basis. This component is another example of our effort to provide a safe and nurturing environment designed to meet the children's and parents' needs.

An excellent cadre of volunteers adds another dimension to our collective efforts at Livingston School. They serve as readers, tutors, clerical assistants, and monitors while performing a host of other routine tasks.

Through this nurturing atmosphere, we try to engender within the children entrusted to us, attitudes that will result in each individual becoming a well mannered, socially competent, and successful academic member of our Livingston School family and the greater community.
