Homework Help
Of course you’re not supposed to do your child’s homework for him-but you can point (and click) him in the right direction. Keep in mind, some educational sites are better than others. Try the following five:
· Yahooligans.com, for kids ages seven through 12, features The Columbia Encyclopedia, Gray’s Anatomy, the works of Shakespeare, and a conversion calculator.
· BJ Pinchbeck’s Homework Helper, at Discoveryschool.com, is for kids in all grades and has links to more that 700 educational sites.
· Factmonster.com, for kids ages 8-14, delivers stats, facts, and historical records from an encyclopedia, a dictionary, an atlas and an almanac.
· Mathnerds.com, for all grades, is staffed with volunteer mathematicians who provide hints, references, direction, and guidance-but not necessarily answers –for solving math problems.
· America Online’s Homework Help, also for all grades, features resources and tools, including an archive of 340 educational videos. Volunteers will respond to kids’ questions within 48 hours.
