SPRING SHOW TICKETS
Tickets are now on sale for the UHSPAC spring musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Performances are:
March 19-20 at 7:30 pm
March 21 at 2:00 pm
March 25-27 at 7:30 pm
March 28 at 2:00 pm
All tickets are $12.00 and can be purchased from Mr. Mosser, in Room A109, during the school day. Cash or money order
made out to Union High School ONLY please! Don’t miss this incredible musical production.

STUDENTS AND TEACHERS:
SOCIAL STUDIES: The application procedure for Honors and Advanced Placement courses in Social Studies has begun. Please see your Social Studies teacher for an application if you are interested and if you qualify. You must have an average of 3.5 in your current Social Studies class. All applications must be turned in by March 26th.
There are also a variety of interesting elective courses, some are Honors or A.P., available to 11th and 12th graders. See your Social Studies teacher or your counselor.
BUSINESS/TECHNOLOGY/MARKETING: There are also many electives available in the Business/Marketing/Technology department. Whether your future plans include college, work, or the military, all would provide valuable background and experience. See your Social Studies teacher, guidance counselor, or any Business/Marketing/Technology teacher for more information. High school is what you make of it, so take advantage of all opportunities!!!

Congratulations to the UHS STEP TEAM “One Sound” who earned 2nd place this weekend against nine other teams. Keep up the good work!

The annual DANCE CULTURAL SHOWCASE hosted by the Dance Club will be held on Friday, May 7th, in the auditorium. We are looking for dancers to represent every culture and style. If you are interested in participating in this event, you will need to sign up with Ms. Matthew and attend a mandatory meeting on either Thursday, March 11th or Thursday, March 25th, after school, in Room C101.

OPTIMIST CLUB will be collecting items for service men/women overseas. See flyers in mailbox. Please bring donations to Room D203 or to box in office.

STUDENTS

ATTENTION 11TH AND 12TH GRADERS:
If you are uncertain about your future goals and would like to participate in a presentation that will help you narrow down the choices, please sign up with Mrs. DeCorte, in the main guidance office, by March 22nd. The presentation will be on March 24th and will also discuss the options offered at the Automotive Training Center in Exton, PA.

For those students taking the SATs in May or June come and join the SAT club. We will try to have a meeting every Monday in Room D124.

The UTEA is offering a $2,500 “Barbara Michalik Class of 1967 Alumni Scholarship” to two Union High School Seniors who are planning on attending a four year college or university, who displayed academic excellence, are of high moral character, and exemplifies a spirit of charitable giving.
Applications may be obtained from Mr. Shaw at Union High School. Applications may be obtained from Mr. Shaw, in the main office. Applications must be returned to Mr. Shaw by April 7th, 2010.
ATTENTION STUDENTS:
Students parking on school grounds must display their UHS parking permit. Students who do not comply may be towed. Also, students are reminded not to park in areas designated for teachers.

ATTENTION FRESHMAN & SOPHOMORES:
The Vauxhall Branch Library is running a series of workshops to help students prepare for success after high school. The next workshop is on time management and will be held on Wednesday, April 7th from 7:00 pm- 8:00 pm. Call the library to register.

The BOYS’ TRACK TEAM is seeking student managers for this season. Any interested boys or girls should see Coach Soranno, in Room B115 or after school in the main gym.

Students interested in applying for Honors English for the 2010-2011 school year can pick up a request form from their English teacher. Forms must be signed by a parent/guardian and returned to your teacher by Tuesday, March 16th.

Students that are interested in applying for any of the Honors and AP courses in Math and/or Science for the 2010-2011 school year are asked to pick up an application from their science and math teachers. Return the signed application to your science and math teachers no later than March 26th.

ATTENTION SENIORS:
Prom is just around the corner! Don’t wait until the last minute when you have other expenses. PAY YOUR SENIOR CLASS DUES NOW! Bring $45 (cash) to Room D215 during homeroom and avoid long lines in April.

Attention Students Interested in Pursuing a Career in Science:
Boston University if offering a six-week residential program for students with an exceptionally strong interest in mathematics. This intensive experience in creative mathematical exploration runs from June 27th to August 7th. The cost is $2,700 (financial assistance is available). Interested students can obtain an application online at www.promys.org. Deadline is May 30, 2010. Space is limited to 60 students.

Any ESL of former ESL Senior interested in applying for the Ellen S. Rever Scholarship should see Ms. Fusco, in Room D130, to pick up an application. Applications are due back by March 25th.

Attention Students Interested in a Career in Sports Management:
Seton Hall University is hosting a Sports Management Career Seminar on March 31st, from 9:00 am – 12:30 pm. Parents and guardians are invited to join you for this event. This is a great way to learn about this exciting career.

MEETINGS

There will be a DEBATE CLUB meeting on Tuesday, March 16th, immediately after school, in Room D140. All members interested in the May competition must attend.

There will be an OPTIMIST CLUB meeting on March 16, at 2:40 pm, in Room D203. All members are expected to be there!

There will be a SKI CLUB meeting on March 30th, at 2:40 pm, in Room D203 for all members. Please bring pictures of trip, if you have some.
