TEACHER/STUDENT SECTION

On Wednesday, November 25th, there will be an extended homeroom. During homeroom, students will complete the school climate survey. More information will follow concerning what homeroom teachers need to do. There will also be a four-hour day of school. Below is the schedule:

Optimist Club members will be taking a collection during all three lunches for Nilton Cacoilo, class of 2003 and former Marine, who is battling Leukemia. Funds will go to Nilton and his family. Please donate what you can. Donations can also be sent to Mrs. Brooks in Room D203.

The OPTIMIST CLUB will be holding a bake sale on Monday, November 23rd in the main lobby, before and after school. Proceeds to go to Nilton Caccoilo and family.

The Cosmetology Clinic will open on Friday, December 4th. All appointments must be made during homeroom Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday the week of the appointment. All students must have a permission slip signed by teacher and parent/guardian to participate.

DANCE CLUB and the FRESHMAN CLASS present U.B.D.C. (Union’s Best Dance Crew). Auditions will be held on November 30th and December 1st, in Room C102. Dance show date: Friday, December 18th, in the auditorium.

The Twirlers will be having a second round of shirt sales!!! Anyone who did not order a shirt last time and would like to purchase one please see Miss Calderone, in Room D145, for an order form. The deadline is November 27th and only cash will be accepted.

ATTENTION JUNIOR HOMEROOMS: The Junior class is participating in their Semester I service project. Every junior homeroom will be collecting non-perishable food products to make food baskets for Union families in need. The homeroom that brings in the most food will win breakfast for their homeroom. Please give food to your homeroom representative to bring daily to Room D206.

LIBRARY CLUB is sponsoring a book drive through December 1st.  Please bring new or gently used children’s books, infant through high school, to the library/media center. The books will be donated to local homeless shelters. Thanks for your support!

STUDENTS

ATTENTION STUDENTS:
If you scored 700 or more on the writing, critical reading or math sections of the SAT OR have a combined total score of 2000 or more, please see Mr. Shaw.

ATTENTION SENIORS:
Senior Class Dues are $45.00 and are now being collected. In order to attend Prom and pay for your cap and gowns you must pay your dues. Don’t wait until the last minute and wait in long lines. Bring in your money (cash only) to Room D215, during homeroom.

Any student who would like to give blood at the Blood Drive on Friday, December 4th, please see Mrs. Brooks in Room D203 for a permission slip. They must be returned by December 3rd.

 

Please check the Athletic Physical List on the outside door of the nurse’s office. A new list will be posted daily on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of the week. If your name is not on the list you cannot tryout for a sport. If you have any questions, please see the nurse.

Students need an appointment to meet with their guidance counselor. Appointments may be made with the guidance secretary after school or BEFORE homeroom. Appointments are not made any other time. Working papers will be filled out after school or before homeroom. TRUE emergencies will be seen as they occur.
Students should not drop into the guidance offices between classes. No passes will be signed by a secretary or counselor to return to class if you do not have a scheduled appointment.

Seniors participating in the Fairleigh Dickinson University Instant Decision Day on December 2nd, are reminded that they must submit applications to their counselor by Friday, November 20th.

Students participating in the Kean University Instant Decision Day on December 3rd are reminded that they must complete a Kean University paper application and return it to their counselor by November 20th. Applications are available in the small guidance office.

ATTENTION NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY MEMBERS:
***CHANGE OF PLANS!!!***
We will begin selling Thanksgiving centerpieces on Monday, November 16th, before school, after school and during lunches.
We will assemble the centerpieces after school on Thursday, November 19th and Tuesday, November 24th. We need members to sign up in Room D237. If we do not have an acceptable number of participants this event will be cancelled.

ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS:
Reminder! As the cold weather approaches, please remember to keep a lock on your locker and keep all belongings, especially winter jackets, locked in your locker. If possible, please write your name or some form of identification on your belongings.

MEETINGS

There will be a mandatory meeting for all INTERACT CLUB members on Monday, November 23rd. Please bring all items for the Thanksgiving Food Basket.
All girls interested in playing softball this spring should attend a brief meeting on Monday, November 23rd, immediately after school, in the small gym. Important information will be distributed.

ATTENTION NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY MEMBERS:
There will be a meeting on Thursday, November 19th and Tuesday, November 24th, in Room D237, after school.

There will be a meeting for all members of the ANIME CLUB on Friday, November 20th, after school, in Room D244. This is the last day for Logo Contest entries. Please bring your entry to the meeting.
