Preschool Registration 2024-2025 School Year Update

IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO KNOW:

  • Placement is not guaranteed. 
  • Students are placed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • Preschool is a full-day program. 
  • The preschool program is state-funded and follows the mandate of 15 students per class.
  • The district preschool program implements a state-approved play-based curriculum- The Creative Curriculum.

Questions about Preschool Registration:

PLACEMENT IN PRESCHOOL:

 

  • Students who are currently enrolled in the district's Prek-3 program for the current school year (23-24) will get priority placement into their homeschool for Prek-4. 
  • Newly enrolled Prek-4 students are placed district wide due to limited seating.
  • Please note: There is a possibility that your homeschool is full. Students who are unable to attend their homeschool will be placed in an available seat at another school. 
  • Prek-3 students are only placed in district classes located at local providers. 
  • Prek-3 students are not placed in the elementary schools. 
  • Students who are placed at a school other than their homeschool for Prek-4 will be transferred to their homeschool for Kindergarten. 

 Registration Requirements:

 Your child must live in Union. 

 ● For Prek-3 (3F) -Your child must be 3 years old by October 1, 2024.

 ● For Prek-4F (4F)- Your child must be 4 years old by October 1, 2024.

*If your child attended a private daycare or preschool- you are still to follow the birthdate requirements listed above. 

 

HOW TO REGISTER FOR PRESCHOOL 2024-2025:

 

Step 1: Complete Pre-registration application. Pre-registration is required. Applications will be reviewed in the order of pre-registration. To complete pre-registration, you will need to upload a copy of your child’s birth certificate and driver’s license/government-issued ID.

Pre-registration applications for the 2024-2025 school year will open on the following dates: 

 ● For Prek-4 (4F)- Pre-registration begins Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 9:00 am.

 ● For Prek-3 (3F)- Pre-registration begins Monday, February 26, 2024 at 9:00 am.

Step 2: After completing Step 1- begin uploading registration documentation into Open Registration. 


Complete the application in Open Registration and submit all required registration documents into Open Registration.* 

  • If your child was born between October 2, 2020, to October 1, 2021 (no exceptions); your child will be in Prek-3- choose 3F when completing the application in Open Registration.
  • If your child was born between October 2, 2019, to October 1, 2020 (no exceptions); your child will be in Prek-4- choose 4F when completing the application in Open Registration. 

Submission of Required Documentation: PDF the following documents for easy uploading or taking a picture with your smartphone. 

1. Proof of Birth: Original Birth Certificate 

2. Immunization Records: The immunization form should be the original document with the physician’s name and address.

3. Current Physical Examination Form: The Universal Child Health Record form must be filled out, signed, and stamped by your pediatrician. If you do not have a current Universal Child Health Record- it can be submitted after your child’s doctor’s visit. ALL physical exams (Universal Health Records) submitted MUST have been completed in 2023 or 2024.

 

4. Proof of Residency: For Proof of Residency- you will need to submit a copy of your lease or deed and  (3) other items with your name and address.

 

  • Submit one of the following:

■ Mortgage statement (30 days current) 

■ Deed (owner) 

■ Signed Current Lease (tenant name & address must be visible)

■ If you live with a family member, a notarized affidavit (6C) indicating the current living situation must be completed and signed by the Union resident. All 6C affidavits must be reviewed and notarized at the Township of Union Board Office.

 

The Preschool department will advise you at a later date- if you are placed to contact Donna Hubbard at [email protected] to make an appointment to have the (6C) form notarized at the Township of Union Board Office. 2369 Morris Avenue, Union, NJ 07083

  • Submit three different current utility bills with name and address visible. Bills must be dated within the last 45 days of submission date:

■ Current gas bill 

■ Credit card bill 

■ Current cable bill 

■ Current electric bill 

■ Medical reports 

■ Current water bill 

■ Benefit statement 

■ Current cell phone bill 

■ Sewer bill 

■ Car insurance identification card 

■ Insurance policy 

■ Recent pay stub 

■ Bank statement

  

5. Submission of New Jersey Driver's License - if applicable

  a. If you New Jersey Driver's License is from out of state or out of town submit DMV

 

Please note: Registration is not complete until you have provided the necessary documentation and it has been verified by the district.

 

Step 3: After you have submitted all documents into open registration, a confirmation page will pop up from Open Registration with your child’s information. To avoid any delays- If you do not receive an email, this confirms that your registration has not been submitted into the system properly. Please go back in to resubmit. 

 

 Next Steps:

 

 The preschool department will review the application in the coming weeks. You will be notified- if additional information is needed.

 

 ● Parents will be notified of placement via email on an on-going basis of tentative placement. A placement letter will be sent to the email address that is listed in the registration. 

 

 ● All placements will be prioritized based on the child’s completion date of enrollment, available space, and are not determined solely by address of residence. 

 

 ● Every effort will be made to accommodate parental requests, but is not guaranteed.

 

● Due to limited seats- placement into the preschool program is not guaranteed.
